Secrets, Sentinels, and Sun-Drenched Retreats
An update on my latest novel, a refreshed short story, and what’s on the horizon for 2026.
Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
I’ve finished my Christmas shopping, baked cookies, and hung the stockings on the fireplace. As I sip my hot cocoa and put my feet up to watch the latest Christmas comedy, I’m going through my mental checklist. Who or what did I miss?
Have you ticked every box on your list?
Think carefully.

This year, I bought myself a cool new Kindle Scribe so I can make notes while I read. I already loaded up my new library with tons of e-books.
I find E-books easy reading. I can adapt the font size for my poor vision and read in any light. Plus, e-books are usually much cheaper than paperbacks. My TBR is huge, but I’m saving the forest one book at a time.
Speaking of books…
Exciting News: Katarina’s Dark Secret is in the Works!
I am thrilled to share that my latest book, Katarina’s Dark Secret, is officially in the editing phase! I can’t wait for you to read it. As soon as my editor gives me the green light, we’ll start pinning down a launch date.
In the meantime, make sure to follow me on Amazon so you don’t miss the pre-launch announcements, and sign up for my mailing list to ensure you get exclusive access to bonuses!
Life Between the Lines
While my editors work their magic, I’m using the downtime to tackle a few things I’ve put off—from medical checkups and new eyeglasses to catching up on social media.
I am also preparing for another writing retreat! This winter, I’m headed to Costa Rica to join Bookouture historical fiction author Julie Hartley. I’m incredibly excited to learn from her and soak up some inspiration in the tropics.
A Fresh Look for Silent Sentinels
Last week, I finished a second edition of my first published short story, Silent Sentinels. I often gift this story to my mailing list subscribers, but it’s also available for purchase on Amazon.
This new version is slightly longer and features a stunning new cover I designed with the help of AI. As a novice AI user, the entire process was a great learning experience! That said, I want to be clear: my stories are entirely my own. While I may use AI for cover art inspiration, I do not use it to write my work.
The revised version of Silent Sentinels hits Amazon in January. If you want to know how to snag it for free, make sure you’re on my mailing list! Get the old version here.
What’s Next?
Some are asking if there will be a sequel to Katarina’s Dark Secret. The answer is: Maybe. Right now, I’m taking a well-deserved break. My desk is full of “dusty” projects begging for attention, and I want to review everything before committing to the next big venture. For now, my 2026 goals include cleaning up my “to do” list, improving my author platform and drafting a few new short stories. But as they say, let’s wait to see “what light through yonder window breaks” before making it official!
